- <, >, < and > represent staircases and ladders up and down, respectively.
- Press < or > to go up or down a staircase or ladder, or down into a hole or trap door you avoided. When asked for a direction, such as when applying a pick-axe or zapping a wand, use these keys to direct your action up or down.
- Press < or > to back or forward one page in a multi-page menu, respectively. This is the default behavior and can be changed by modifying the menu_previous_page and menu_next_page options.
